USPS ready to meet seasonal EMS demand

USPS expects to deliver 200 million parcels in the week before Christmas, including EMS packages from the 182 members belonging to the EMS Cooperative network. 

As Christmas Eve is on a Sunday this year, USPS is prepared and has expanded its Sunday delivery operations in select high package volume locations during the holiday season. It expects to deliver more than 6 million packages each Sunday in December.  In some locations, it's even possible to have Priority Mail Express packages on Christmas Day. 

This is a busy time of year starting with Thanksgiving and lasting until the New Year. USPS is expecting a 10% increase in its volumes to 850 million packages delivered between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. 

More customers are escaping the seasonal rush by ordering online. USPS makes life easier for their customers by offering convenient online services, like Click-N-Ship, to order free Priority Mail boxes, print shipping labels, purchase postage and request free next-day Package Pickup. Moreover, the new USPS service, Informed Delivery, makes tracking packages easy. The free tool allows eligible consumers to view incoming mail, track packages and reschedule deliveries.
