The fourth quarter is always peak season for our EMS network. 2020 is predicted to be the busiest yet, as postal workers are also responding to additional demands in place to limit the spread of COVID-19. More of us are shopping online, and this, combined with international travel restrictions, all suggest that this will be a record year for international cross-border EMS as customers send gifts to loved ones around the world.
The season starts with demand for e-commerce generated by annual shopping events, from ‘Singles Day’, Black Friday, Cyber Monday through to the extra items being sent by customers around the world for seasonal celebrations. The challenge is to get these goods delivered rapidly to customers around the world.
EMS operators are prepared. Many offer seasonal promotions to customers and all have social distancing measures in place to ensure both staff and customers are kept safe. To meet customer demand, EMS members employ additional staff; introduce extra delivery slots; offer more convenient delivery options and increase transport capacity. Our network of over 190 countries offer EMS as a priority express service to meet international shopping demands.
2020 has been an incredibly challenging year. Postal workers around the world are working around the clock to ensure that customers receive their packages safely and quickly in time for holiday celebrations.
