Update on the strike (EmIS 199/2024 of 25.11.2024)

EmIS 199/2024

Further to EmIS 192/2024 (below), the designated operator of Canada, Canada Post, asks us to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that the national strike continues.

At present, all inbound mail to Canada is still being accepted at airports. However, there is no movement of mail within Canada. International items received as of 15 November are being held in secure containers and have not been processed. Therefore, no scans of any sort are available at this time, including at item and receptacle level. When service resumes, items will be inducted, processed and delivered as quickly as possible on a first-in, first-out basis. However, customers should expect delays as Canada Post processes the backlog and stabilizes its operations.

Regular updates on all service disruptions are available at canadapost.ca/update.

Canada Post remains committed to arriving at a negotiated agreement with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers.

Canada Post thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding.

Strike activity (EmIS 192/2024 of 15.11.2024)

EmIS 192/2024

The designated operator of Canada, Canada Post, asks us to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) will be in a position to begin legal strike activity on 15 November 2024 at 12.01 local time (EST), unless an agreement is reached before then.

In the event of rotating strikes by CUPW, Canada Post will make every effort to minimize service disruption and deliver mail as normal. Nevertheless, delays should be expected in the processing and delivery of mail and parcels.

Regular updates on all service disruptions are available at canadapost.ca/update.

Canada Post remains committed to achieving a negotiated settlement with CUPW, while making every effort to minimize the impact of disruption on its customers.

Canada Post thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding.
