Seoul Declaration capitalises on Asia-Pacific's EMS dominance

EMS symposium in Asia Pacific

The Asia-Pacific Region already accounts for nearly 70% of global EMS volume. There is potential to grow this as EMS operators make improvements to be ready to further support the needs of e-commerce customers from Asia-Pacific, the world's fastest-growing economy.
In July, 40 senior managers recently attended an EMS symposium in Seoul to look at ways they can work together to further stimulate EMS growth in the Asia-Pacific region. 
EMS export growth in Asia-Pacific will be generated by the B2C market and in particular, by SMEs. Participants at the symposium focussed on providing SME customers with ease-of-use enhancements such as flat rate pricing, pre-paid packaging and making available online the CN23 EMS label  to help speed up processing and delivery of international express items. 
India Post and New Zealand Post shared their work meeting the needs of the B2C  market. USPS, a top trade lane for Asia-Pacific, presented a strategy to build EMS exports by helping Asia-Pacific SMEs reach the vast US consumer e-commerce market. Another top-trade lane partner, Brazil presented its international EMS growth strategies. 
EMS delivery commitments rely on  transport excellence and as such, Japan Post and JAL Cargo presented best practice in transport. Participants committed to set competitive standards for leg 2; to improve relations with customs and strategies to improve leg 2 performance, including sharing advanced electronic data  and working collectively to obtain more favourable conditions with ground handlers and airlines.
Asia Pacific operators understand the importance of working together to retain loyal customers and acquire new business. Two 2016 EMS Customer Care award winners, China Post and Thailand Post, updated members on their efforts to improve EMS customer care in the region. Korea Post and Singapore Post shared best practice updates and their innovative strategies can be adopted by other Asia Pacific operators.
The commitment of the participants was demonstrated through the unanimous affirmation of the Seoul Declaration to Position EMS for Growth in the Asia-Pacific Region.
